The story began in the early 1960’s when Goldsmiths Hardware opened on the site of Blaxland Home Hardware today. In the 1970’s this was purchased by Lou and Dot Chandler during the times of the greatest expansion of new housing on the Lower Mountains. The next change of ownership occurred in 1985 by Margaret Manwaring and the store became Highway Hardware.
On the 1st of July 2011, Highway Hardware was purchased by TDBS trading (Zakaria Yassa & family) under the trading name of Blaxland Home Hardware. This is a registered brand of Mitre 10 Ltd. This gives the store many privileges including a wider range of products and services for handymen, builders, trade and the general public. With the link to Mitre 10’s chain groups comes associations to many high quality providers which allows us to serve your needs. Many renovations and improvements have also been made in and out of the store since then, including the Garden Centre which is now much larger.
